Food Chain

A Food Chain describes the eating relationships between species within an ecosystem. It is a food pathway that links two or more different species in that each forms food for the next species higher up in the chain.

In land-based food chains, the first link is usually a plant. In aquatic food chains, it is usually an alga or other form of single-celled life.
