Main Characteristics

Malagasy Civets have a body length between 40 and 45 cms (15.75 - 17.75 inches), a tail length between 21 and 25 cms (8.25 - 9.8 inches) and they weigh between 1.5 and 2 kgs (3.3 - 4.4 lbs).

They are tawny brown in colour with a light coloured underside and they have four rows of dark spots on their back.

Habitat

Malagasy Civets can be found in the evergreen forests of Madagascar.

Diet

Malagasy
Civets mainly feed on small rodents, birds, reptiles, frogs and insects.

Breeding

After a gestation period of 3 months, Malagasy Civets give birth to a single youngster. They are weaned at 2 - 3 months and they disperse at a year old.
