The Harbour Porpoise is one of the smallest ocean mammals. They are between 1.4 and 2 m (4.5 - 6.5 ft) in length and they weigh between 50 and 90 kgs (110 - 200 lbs). They are black or dark grey in colour with a cream/white underside.
Habitat
Harbour Porpoise can be found in the north Pacific, north Atlantic and the Black Sea. They tend to stay around coastal waters and river estuaries.
Diet
Harbour porpoise mainly feed on small fish, particularly herring, capelin and sprat.
Breeding
Harbour Porpoise produce a single calf that is cared for by its mother for up to 12 months.
Predators
Predators of Harbour Porpoise include bottlenosed dolphins, large sharks, killer whales and humans.
