The flexor tendons are only covered by skin so they are very vulnerable to bruising from kicks or overreaches.
Treatment
Bruised Tendons should be treated in the same way as tendon strains. If the overlying skin is broken and it becomes infected, your vet will administer antibiotics.
The recovery period for Bruised Tendons is generally shorter than for strained tendons.
Prevention
Boots and bandages provide the horse's legs with protection, so always use them while exercising and during competitions.
