An Ectoparasite is an animal that lives parasitically on the surface of another animal's body, and they often feed on blood.
Some ectoparasites spend their whole lifecycle on their hosts, but many, for example fleas and ticks, develop elsewhere and climb onto their hosts in order to feed.
