Short-Finned Pilot Whales are between 5 and 7 m (16 - 23 ft) in length and they weigh between 1 and 1.8 tonnes (1 - 1.75 tons). They have a stocky body and they are black or dark grey in colour.
Habitat

Diet
Short-Finned Pilot Whales feed on small fish, squid and octopus. They consume around 45 kgs (99 lbs) of food per day.
Breeding
After a gestation period of 11 - 13 months, Short-Finned Pilot Whales give birth to a single calf. At birth the calf is between 1.4 and 1.8 m (4.5 - 6 ft) in length.
