Main Characteristics
Ruddy Mongoose have a body length between 39 and 47 cms (15.3 - 18.5 inches), a tail length between 33 and 36 cms (13 - 14.2 inches) and they weigh between 0.95 and 1.85 kgs (2 - 4 lbs).
They are dark brown in colour with black and white speckling throughout their coat. Around their head and shoulders their coat has a reddish tint and they have a black tip on their tail.
Habitat
Ruddy Mongoose can be found in the hill forests of India and Sri Lanka.
Diet
Ruddy Mongoose feed on rodents, lizards, snakes and carrion.
