Main Characteristics
Tapeti are medium sized rabbits and they weigh between 0.7 and 1 kg (1.5 - 2.2 lbs). They are yellowish/brown in colour with a pale coloured underside. They have a red/brown patch on their neck and they often have pale spots on their muzzle and above their eye.
Habitat
Tapeti are found in the forested areas and plantations of central and South America.
Diet
Tapeti feed on grasses and other vegetation.
Breeding
After a gestation period of 26 - 30 days a litter of 1 - 6 young rabbits are born. They are weaned by the time they are 18 days old and reach sexual maturity at 3 months old.
