Main Characteristics
Small-Toothed Palm Civets have a body length between 48 and 57.5 cms (18.9 - 22.6 inches), a tail length between 56 and 60 cms (22 - 23.6 inches) and they weigh between 2 and 2.7 kgs (4.4 - 6 lbs).
Their short fur is buff or tawny in colour with three distinct dark brown or black stripes on their back that run the length of their body.
Like other palm civets, they are solitary, nocturnal, and arboreal.
Habitat
Small-Toothed Palm Civets can be found in the dense forests of south east Asia.
Diet
Small-Toothed Palm Civets feed on fruits, insects, small mammals, frogs, lizards and birds.
Breeding
After a gestation period of 45 days, Small-Toothed Palm Civets give birth to an average of three youngsters. At 11 days they open their eyes and at 2 months old they are weaned.
They have no set mating season and they can have up to 2 litters each year.
